Materials Reuse

Many services are available to help County residents and businesses reduce waste by promoting reuse of valuable items and materials.

You have something you don’t want, but you're sure someone else needs it. Or you need something that you know someone out there wants to get rid of. The online services referenced below allow information about wanted and available materials to reach a wide audience.

Santa Cruz County Freecycle
San Lorenzo Valley Freecycle
Watsonville Freecycle

The goal of the these groups is to reduce waste by connecting people who are throwing away items with others who are seeking the same items. Since these are FREEcycle lists, ALL items must be 100% FREE of charge. Join a group by a simple registration with MyFreecycle, view and post listings via the Internet.

CalMAX is a free service designed to help businesses find markets for nonhazardous materials they have traditionally discarded. CalMAX helps businesses, industries, and institutions save resources and money.

Subscribe online for the free CalMAX updates service and you will receive e-mails twice a month with new CalMAX listings.

Got something cool, but not really Freecycle material? The Cafe SLV covers the Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, and San Lorenzo Valley areas where you can post things such barter, coupons, trades, ask advice, rooms for rent, garage sales, community service announcements, and so forth. It is also the polling place for Santa Cruz Freecyle. You can even list your business in the Database. Visit the Cafe SLV page.

Got something you're not quite ready to give away? There is a "garage sale" type group, Santa Cruz Cheapcycle.
